A BIT OF HISTORY

As you can see from the picture, I was infatuated with guns from an early age.  My BB Gun was a constant companion,  as one may have been with you.  My little Sister shoots every now and then with me when we can find a spare afternoon.
At 15, I built my first gun in the garage at home.  Crude as it is, it hangs in my shop today to remind me of just how long I have traveled this path.  Read more about my first gun in the
Project Scrapbook.
Almost 50 years have passed since the BB Gun Safari with my little Sister, but the passion has not dwindled, the flame burns brighter day by day as I continue to learn more and more about guns of all descriptions.  I consider myself an amateur,  forever in the learning process.

In 1963, I sold two guns to marry my wife, and our life has evolved around guns for almost 42 years.
We have shot Silhouette, won our share of Turkey Shoots and currently, we are enjoying Cowboy Action Matches.
Of course we are partners in the shop and we are consecutively numbered in more than one way!

THE BEGINNING OF THE SHOOTING IRON

Sometime in the late 1983,  my Mom could see that it was time to make a dream come true.  With her help and blessing, I established The Shooting Iron in 1984 housed in the Sinclair Service Station that my Dad built and operated.  As you can see from the 1953  gas price of  20 cents per gallon,  the building has been in our family for quite a long time.
Unfortunately, my Dad did not see the completion of the shop, but my Mom came to visit regularly.
TODAY
The shop is not large, but I find it more than adequate for what I do.  It is small, functional, and I hope, a pleasant place to visit and talk about guns.

It is a lucky man who can work at his lifelong passion!
